Beginner's Guide
Game Overview
You VS Homer is a retro-styled asymmetrical survival game on Roblox where players either hide as "Barts" or hunt as "Homer."
- Objective: If you are a survivor (Bart), survive until the timer runs out. If you are Homer, eliminate all survivors before time expires.
- Retro Style: The game features a classic Roblox aesthetic, focusing on simple but intense hide-and-seek mechanics.
Survivor (Bart) Strategies & Items
As a Bart, you start with basic tools: a skateboard (cosmetic), a torch (flashlight), and snowballs.
Stealth Tip (The Torch)
Avoid keeping your torch on constantly. It illuminates your position, making it easier for Homer to find you in dark maps.
Effective Hiding Spots
- Under the Bed: In the House map, hiding under or behind the bed is a high-reward strategy. Many Homer players fail to check the floor level thoroughly.
- The Box Strat: Hiding inside or behind boxes is one of the most effective ways to stay undetected, as confirmed by winning rounds.
- Corner Camping: Tucking into a corner far from the main paths can give you a head start if Homer approaches, allowing you to evade him more easily.
Interactables
Maps often have "Red Buttons" (e.g., the "Don't Press" button). While they add to the chaos, focusing on hiding is generally safer for survival.
Hunter (Homer) Strategies
The "Weight" Mechanic
Every time Homer eliminates a survivor, he gets physically larger ("fatter"), which is a fun visual cue of your progress.
Patrol Routes
- Lighthouse Check: On maps with a lighthouse, survivors often congregate at the top. Check the stairs and be ready for them to jump down.
- Room Clears: Don't just look at eye level. Check behind doors and in corners where survivors might be "hugging the wall" to stay out of your line of sight.
Camping the Exits
If you know survivors are in a specific area (like an upper floor), waiting near the main exit or ladder can catch them as they try to escape the shrinking timer.
Lobby Features & Progression
Currency (Quid): Winning rounds earns you "Quid," which can be used to buy items and skins.
The Gamble Station: You can spend your earned currency at the gambling machine for a chance to win bigger rewards or new skins.
Obby Challenge: The lobby features a difficult "Spongebob" themed obby for players to test their parkour skills while waiting for the next round.
Quick Tips for Beginners
- Keep moving! Staying in one spot for too long makes it easier for Homer to find you, especially on smaller maps like Moe's Tavern.
- Don't be a "bright" target - keep your flashlight off unless absolutely necessary.
- Use the 2D Skin Meta - if you have enough Quid, buy a 2D skin (like Emo Bart) for better hiding capabilities.
- Listen closely - the game uses directional audio. If the music gets louder or you hear Homer's catchphrases, he is nearby.
- Check the corners - as Homer, new players often hide right behind doors or in the darkest corners.
- Follow the sound - listen for survivors spamming voice lines, as this gives away their location.
